new advent tradition

Here's our newest tradition.
I splurged a little and bought this advent truck.
It has 24 drawers in it.
To count down the days until Christmas.

Our girls were very excited this morning.
With 3 girls and 24 drawers the math works out perfectly.
They will each get 8 turns opening a drawer.

Each drawer will contain a little something.
Maybe a chocolate or eraser.
Maybe a bible verse about the Christmas story.
Maybe a little task of kindness.
I only have 6 days done,
even though they don't know that yet!
The drawers are small too only 4 cm x 4 cm.
Any ideas would be great!
Then this afternoon we put on music
and they spent time painting some Christmas decorations
made out of a baked dough.
Messy but fun! The perfect day!

What a cute little truck. If you are looking for an idea....What if you jot down some funny/cute/sweet family memories to share with all the kids. Then save them and put them in a memory jar for future reading. Just a thought -- but I'm sure you're doing just great.

What a great idea!
My mom did something like this for us too - some of the surprises were a recipe for baking our favourite Christmas cookies we made the same day, one was a coupon to see a movie, I remember a key that opened a bigger box filled with old family photos and home movies from her Christmases past. And chocolate... lots of cute little chocolates in most od the days.

I still do advent calendards for my kids, even though one is an adult and the other 15... they still love it.

How adorable! If I owned that, I would totally use it as a button storage system. :-D

It sounds like it was a great day. I LOVE the advent truck! If I had that at my house my son wouldn't stop playing with it :)

Beautiful truck! Looks like a lot of fun has been going on at your house today!!! On Christmas day you should have the last one be a note that leads them on a treasure hunt to find a gift hidden somewhere. Have fun!

That's an adorable little calendar! And I love how well the math works out for having each child open the same number of drawers!

your advent truck is adorable!

How about rolling up a Christmas word search in one that they can do together, or a tiny (fabric?) Christmas ornament
