scrappy scarf

I think I am finally happy with the progress that I am making on my Scrappy Lengthwise Scarf. I have started it 3 times. Each time I wasn't happy with it for a different reason. I didn't like the yarns together or I was messing up the pattern. The pattern isn't really difficult, I just can't talk as much as I might like (thank you Mom for pointing that out)! Apparently as a child I couldn't watch TV and cook dinner either, because things would get burnt. Sigh!Anyways, I also have found that you really need to use similar weight sock yarn, as all are not created equal, or it just doesn't lay very nicely.

Originally I had hoped that this would be for me. I am thinking now that I might be making it for one of the girls. Especially since my oldest has shown quite a keen interest in it.

You can find this pattern free on ravelry.

Well, the colors are working out very nicely. What a great concept to make a scarf out of leftover sock yarn. I can see why a young girl would be interested in your scarf - the colors are FUN.

your scarf is looking great! and i totally concur that this 'woven' pattern - however simple - requires extra attention. loved your last post about your girl's birthday - taking them out for a bit is so much better than all the food and running and screaming at the house.

I love how we learn about ourselves during our creative endeavors! and being confident to share yourself with all of us...even better!

What fun colors! I could see how a scrappy scarf could get you a little nuts, finding the right scraps to pair together is key. Have fun knitting!

Love the colours in the scarf!! What a great way to use up those small quantities of yarn. No wonder your daughter is claiming it!

Our summer holidays go from mid December to end of January - not quite as long as yours! The school year is divided into 4, ten week terms, with a two week break in between each term. This year by children will be in Year 11 and Year 8 - time goes so fast!

I suppose we all live and learn. I've certainly been there and done that with many a project. The colors are gorgeous. And don't feel too badly, I can only do one thing at a time. Except I can drive and sing-a-long with the radio quite well -- just ask my kids (kidding).

I am so glad to see that I am not the only one who rips things out a bazillion times before I get it "just right"! I am re-learning knitting and just finished my first project (which I started over SEVEN times!!) and started a scarf for my husband last night (restarted twice so far!)The colors of your scarf are lovely, I can't wait to see it finished!

This is a great idea for using up extra yarn! I bought a bag of homespun yarn in different colors from Goodwill and it would be perfect for this scarf. Yours is looking very nice already!
